The Punjab government has taken a groundbreaking step by signing an agreement to digitize the revenue records of Gilgit-Baltistan. The agreement was formalized in Islamabad in the presence of Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Abrar Ahmed Mirza and Chairman Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) Tariq Subhani. Senior Member Gilgit-Baltistan Revenue Board Wali Khan and Director General PLRA Captain (R) Ikramul Haq signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif played a pivotal role in initiating this collaboration, entrusting Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Senior Member Board of Revenue Punjab Nabeel Javed with the responsibility of providing full support to ensure the revenue records of Gilgit-Baltistan are error-free and digitized through a transparent process.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Board of Revenue, Additional Director Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed, and Director Operations Anjum Zahra, who also signed the agreement. Addressing the ceremony, DG PLRA Captain (R) Ikramul Haq assured that the digitization of Gilgit-Baltistan’s revenue records would be completed expeditiously using modern and transparent systems.
The Punjab Land Records Authority has revolutionized revenue record management in Punjab, setting a benchmark for transparency and modernization. Under the leadership of Senior Member Nabeel Javed and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, the system has emerged as a model of efficiency and public convenience, gaining recognition nationwide. This initiative, endorsed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to provide the people of Gilgit-Baltistan with a streamlined, transparent system that will address longstanding issues and enhance public trust.
Experts and public circles have lauded this collaboration, describing it as a visionary step by the Punjab government. The initiative is expected to strengthen inter-provincial cooperation and provide Gilgit-Baltistan with a reliable and modernized revenue management system.
